MISSIONS OVERVIEW Our mission is simple: to love people. Is true love unattainable? Some people think so. Remember the saying, “love is a verb”, which means action. We believe love will change the world. We believe we must not only attain love, but we must cling to it and give it away to others. MII wants to rise up agents of change that will be known by their love. If we speak in the language of men and angels, but have no love, we become a resounding gong or clanging cymbal. If we have the gift of telling the future or speaking on behalf of God and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and we have faith that can move any mountain, but have no love, we are nothing. We will go so far as to say, if we give everything away that we possess to the poor and surrender our bodies to be burned in flames, but do not have love, we gain nothing. MII IS FOUNDED ON THESE PRINCIPALS OF WHAT LOVE IS: patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, not proud, not rude, not looking for itself, not easily angered, keeps no record of the wrong, does not delight with the bad but stands up with joy time and again for truth, it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres, love never fails. Missions Impossible International believes that to do the Impossible we need these three things; Faith, Hope, and Love. Faith, it means you believe in more than what you see with your eyes, those things that you can’t see but know are there. Faith gives you the ability to believe in things or someone beyond yourself. This is so important to us at MII because down deep as much as we set high standards and goals for ourselves, we fall short. Faith will lead us to hope. Hope, it means you can dream dreams and have vision of things to come. Hope is reinforced by our faith to trust there is a future. To have hope means you do not see all as lost, that you are not entering a world of darkness where the only thing that can happen is for you to eventually stumble off a cliff into despair at all of life’s tragedy, corruption, suffering and beguile. Hope believes the sun will shine again after 40 days of rain and hell. It sees the coming of the best things in others. Faith and hope then lead us to what is called the greatest of all, LOVE. Love as defined in the principals of MII above, leads us to a wisdom that is first of all pure, then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy, good productive fruit, impartial and sincere. This doesn’t mean we will not be faced many times as we in MII are, with the difficult task of deciding who gets what when there is not enough for all. “We must have empathy with and for each other”- Erwin Raphael McManus of Mosaic. We must have this kind of wisdom to fulfill our mission to change the world we live in. At MII we believed what we heard when we heard it said “God is love”. “We would go crazy if we only had faith in ourselves or organizations and governments to meet the vast needs of all humanity and nature”-Phil Jones. MII believes in the supporting and building up of people and recognizes on its journey that real change comes from inside of a person. For this reasoning along with the practical physical acts of caring we offer spiritual guidance and training in biblical studies to all. We believe in the Kingdom of God. David VanCronkhite of Blood-n-Fire spoke this truth: “A kingdom, if it is anything, and we believe it is EVERYTHING, it is relational”. It is one thing to provide a meal or clothing or education which we do but to look in the eyes and see freedom from circumstances controlling the way they live and seeing real peace, joy, love etc… exuding from them is a sight to behold. This kind of Kingdom supersedes and transcends all walks of life, rich or poor. The Kingdom we offer is the one extended to us through the sacrifices of God, through Jesus, and guidance of God the Holy Spirit. A kingdom of the Spirit of God and the result of this Spirit is love; joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, there is no one who can argue or make laws against any of these things.
MII’s mission demands we live by these things of the Spirit of God. We all were created by God to do good works, why not DO THE IMPOSSIBLE! This is the dream, vision, call of Missions Impossible and you will hear us stand with heaving lungs crying out even in the wilderness, to fulfill love’s call to serve each other. Join us, help us, it will save your life and the lives of others. |
